How much do SEO services cost for a small business in the UK?
+
Realistically, between £400 and £1,500 a month for a small business. My plans start at £399 a month for a single-location business and £799 for businesses competing across several services or towns. Anything under about £250 a month across the UK market tends to be automated reports and little actual work, and it is usually the reason a business owner arrives here saying SEO did not work for them.
How long does SEO take to work?
+
Expect small movements within four to eight weeks, meaningful traffic between three and six months, and the bigger competitive terms after six to twelve months. Local map pack rankings are usually the fastest to respond. Anyone promising page one in thirty days is either targeting terms nobody searches for or is about to do something that will cost you later.
Is SEO worth it for a small business?
+
It is worth it when a meaningful number of people search for what you sell and when a customer is worth enough to justify the monthly fee. A tradesperson whose average job is £2,000 needs very few extra enquiries a month to be ahead. A business selling a £15 product to a tiny audience is usually better off spending elsewhere, and I will tell you that in the audit rather than take the work.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
+
No. Work is month to month with 30 days notice. SEO takes months to pay off, so I would rather earn the next month than lock you into twelve. If it is not working and cannot be made to work, you should be able to leave.
Who actually does the work?
+
I do. You are not handed to an account manager who forwards your questions to a junior. That is also why I only take on a limited number of clients at a time and why the free audit is written rather than pitched on a call.
Do you work with businesses outside my industry?
+
I work with UK small businesses generally, most often trades and home services, professional services, clinics and independent retailers. What matters more than the industry is whether people search for the service and whether you can handle more enquiries when they arrive.
What if I do not have a website yet?
+
Then that comes first, and the audit will say so. There is no point paying for SEO on a site that cannot convert a visitor. Send your Google Business Profile or social page in the form and I will tell you what the minimum sensible starting point looks like.
Can I do SEO myself instead?
+
Plenty of it, yes. A small business owner can fix their Google Business Profile, collect reviews properly and write honest service pages, and that alone beats a lot of competitors. The audit is written so you could act on it yourself. Where owners usually run out of road is technical work, keyword research at scale and the time to publish consistently.
